According to the legend, the sound of 'Reciting the Name of Buddha in Five Assemblies' was composed into a tune which imitates the heavenly music played in the Western Land of ultimate bliss, this tune was popularly prevailed in Tang dynasty (618 A.D. - 907 A.D.) In the end of Tang dynasty Buddhism was prohibited from propagating by an emperor, the reciting the name of Buddha ceased to propagate. Master Kuan Pan recomposed the reciting the name of Buddha in five Assemblies in past years, therefore we can hear it now.
The sound of 'Reciting the Name of Buddha in Five Assemblies' is clearly elegant. When the reciter cultivates alone or cultivates together with a great assembly of cultivators, he can use the singing and praising in this edition as supplementary music which will make him concentrating his mind.
